The long debate and struggle over the designation of The Miami Herald building has ended. For some preservationists in the community, the decision is unfortunately not in their favor. A vote of 5-3 by Miami’s historic preservation board ruled against granting the Miami Modern building the much needed status to keep it safe from the wrecking ball.(click to read NBC 6′s full article). The building is scheduled for a May demolition, while the newspaper is already in the process of making its way west to Doral where it will occupy the former HQ of the US Southern Command.
