DawnTown had the opportunity earlier this week to attend a conference in DC organized by the International Design Education Alliance for Schools on the topic of promoting architecture and design education in K12 schools. It was an inspiring gathering of thoughtful and committed individuals in fantastic space, the National Building Museum. The conference featured:
- Welcome by Scott Kratz, Vice President of Education, National Building Museum, and overview by conference organizers Robin Vande Zande and Martin Rayala.
- Panel on design education with Caroline Payson, Education Director, Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum; Jean Lindsner, VP of Youth Education, Chicago Architecture Foundation; Stephanie Clemons, K-12 Design Education Research Specialist, Interior Design Educators Council; and Kendall Starkweather, Executive Director of the International Technology Education Association.
- Keynote by Bill Moggridge, founder of IDEO.
