DawnTown 2010: Jury meets and picks winners

This past Friday marked the 3rd DawnTown Miami competition jury at the law offices of Akerman & Senterfitt.    The jury consisted of, Javier Betancourt(an urban planner and Deputy Director of the Miami Downtown Development Authority)Jean Francois Lejeune (architect/urban designer and Graduate Director of the University of Miami School of Architecture), Dennis Scholl ( VP/Art and Miami Program Director of the John S and James L Knight Foundation), Eric Goldemberg ( architect/ Principal of MONAD Studio and Professor of Architecture at Florida International University) and Francisco Garcia (urban designer and Director of Planning of the City of Miami).

With over 100 competition entries, the 5 jurors studied each submission meticulously to ensure that all entries would be seen.  After 4 rounds of judging, the jurors then selected their top 9 entries and from that number came the finalists.  Although we can not say who the winners are at this point, we will say that we have our top 3 winners, and had such a strong showing, we increased our honorable mentions from 1 to 3.
